I paint my nails all the time and hardly ever talk about it on my blog. So here’s a quick post about my current mani. I just received my August Julep box last week and all the colours I got were gorgeous. Rich with some shimmer and shifting colours but not too overt. Rich jewel tones, which are some of my favourite colours.
I decided to go with the royal purple colour, called Avni, even though it’s still summer and I really should be cherishing all the pastels and bright colours that will soon be relegated to the back of my nail polish box. Two coats got me a fantastic base and then I added Julep Clio as a glitter gradient. (You may have noticed, I’m kind of a nut for gradients.)
The first two pics are taken near a window and the third is using indoor lighting. Apologies for the blurriness of the third, the pictures just looked more blue near the window and I wanted to capture the purple shift.
What are you wearing on your nails this week? Happy Shopping!
This week went by really fast and was kinda boring. Not too much to talk about on the fashion/makeup front.
So here’s a round-up of my Instagram photos in case you missed them.
Apparently this week should’ve been called “42 Ways to Wear Your Denim Jacket”
Denim Jacket (bought at a yard sale last summer, no specific brand), DKNY Jeans top and purple graffiti jeggings and Joe Fresh silver ballet flats.
Denim Jacket with Banana Republic Sloan Dress in black and Clarks sandals (from last year). Belt from Zellers and necklace from Aldo.
Denim Jacket with Joe Fresh t-shirt with flower details, Gap Jeans in Peach and necklace from Lia Sophia. I am also wearing Birkenstocks but they got cut off in editing.
Okay, so maybe it’s not 42 ways but I sure wore it a lot this week. I think a nice denim jacket is a great neutral for spring and summer. If you don’t have one, I suggest you get one. And right now it’s easy as they are everywhere. If you aren’t a big fan of the cropped one (like I have above) grab one that hits you at the hip but definitely not any longer.
Some nail art:
Two coats of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Barracuda and then using the painted gradient technique (by the lovely Chalkboard Nails) gradually paint three coats of Serum No 5 Laven-Daringly Bright (which glows in the dark) and top with two coats of Quo by Orly Pink Matte (sorry, I couldn’t find any link for this). Loved this mani and it wore well for two days.
Some very exciting news: Head over to Lipsticks and Lullabies right away because Rebekah is giving away the Urban Decay Electric Palette for reaching 300 Likes on Facebook. Following me on Instagram and Twitter are two of the ways to enter for the contest. Good luck!
Oh ya, and I signed up for Twitter. Follow me @tlcshoppingwpg.
Lastly, what do you think of the larger picture sizes? Too big? Great for seeing details? Leave me a comment and let me know. Happy Shopping!
So apparently I’m not the only blogger taking a break from regular posts during this long, harsh winter. Several of the blogs I read (including this one and this one ) normally update twice per week or more and are currently doing once per week or way less. I thought that would make me feel better (as in, hey, you aren’t the only lazy person sitting on the couch after your kid goes to bed and watching Netflix instead of blogging) but instead it made me feel sad for readers, like they have less to read now. So, get your glass, let’s toast to more regular posts! Cheers!
Went to Toronto last week. Here are some pics:
I bought the Joe Fresh silver ballet flats that I posted about here. They are super cute. If you are thinking about ordering them on the website, they are quite short in the length (as in, my heel was hanging over) and I ended up going up a whole size.
We went to Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada. Both Daughter and I totally enjoyed it and I would highly recommend if you are in the area to check it out.
Here is my darling carrying her favourite baby and a small shopping bag from Hudson’s Bay holding shiny lilac jeans and a cute blue and white polka dot t-shirt with a sequin Peter Pan collar. Yes, it is just as cute as it sounds and I will post some pics soon.
Um… so how did I miss the Target launch of their collection with Peter Pilotto? I was reading my March magazines and found ads that said it arrived Feb 9th, 2014. FEB 9TH?? That was like three weeks ago? (I am also a little behind in my reading.) I follow Target on Facebook and as far as I can tell they didn’t post it at all! Anyways, the collection looks awesome, check it out here. I’m going to my local Target on the weekend to see if they got it. I’ll let you know.
I’ve changed my Instagram account to @tlcshoppingwpg. Feel free to follow me and ask me to follow you back. Have a great weekend and Happy Shopping!
I’ve never been big on Valentine’s Day. Flowers are overpriced, chocolates give me hives and the restaurants all are crowded. If it were up to me, the custom would be to send your lover shoes or a great purse.
But since it’s not up to me, here are some sweet treats for you (and I) to drool over on this lovely Hallmark-made-up holiday. Feel free to send this list to your honey so they know what you really want. 😉
I am crazy over these silver ballet flats from Joe. They will be perfect for work, shopping and date nights walking down Corydon.
This darling cardigan lends itself to spring but will keep you toasty warm while the temperatures slowly climb to above zero. Available at Out of the Blue
This cute dress from Artizia also comes in a gorgeous red colour, perfect for Valentine’s Day.
Rejoice leather lovers, leather continues to be hot this season. But bargain hunters need not apply: this gorgeous white leather laser cutout dress from Club Monaco will set you back $995.
I picked up a bib necklace from Paramix last week and caught myself wanting more than one including this Peter Pan collar and floral choker. Check out her great selection on Facebook or Instagram.
