My lovely friend and Jamberry consultant, Tara Jordan, always let’s me know when the new season’s Jamberry catalogue arrives so I can check out the new fall styles. I thought I’d share some of my favourites. Note: all links are to Tara’s consultant page and each style is $17.50.
New Year’s Eve
Fall and florals
And this is only a sampling of the many fabulous styles that Jamberry sells.
I’m working on a video (my first!) of the best way to put on Jamberrys so they last a week or more. I’m cheap thrifty and I think I’ve figured out all the tricks to get the most wear out of your Jamberry manicure.
Tried Jamberry? What are your thoughts? Happy Shopping!
I feel terrible that I haven’t updated in almost 10 days. Last week everyone in my house was sick and nothing got done. Not house work, hardly any cooking (we ordered out a lot), we all had at least one sick day (I had two) and definitely no blogging. It was terrible. Oh well, it’s over and I’m looking forward to more regular blogging schedule!
Today I have this gorgeous mani. I used two new (to me) Julep polishes: Fifi (tea time pink crème) and Candace (golden chocolate microglitter).
This is one of my favourite manis in awhile. I love the contrast of the baby pink of Fifi against the luxuriousness of Candace. I think I will be doing more of these non-traditional match-ups.
Here I tried to show you the microglitter, which only seems to really show up when the photos are blurry.
So apparently I’m hooked on dotticures this month. I had a great time putting this one together using China Glaze Don’t Honk Your Thorn from the City Flourish collection that came out this past spring. This isn’t normally a colour I would buy at all. My mom bought it and it doesn’t go with her skin tone so I got it. Isn’t it great when that happens?
This is actually a gorgeous nude colour though with just a bit of shimmer, hardly noticeable at all but adds interest to the colour, imo.
Then I took a dotting tool and added large dots of both Julep Leah (green) and Julep Flora (purple) and then added small dots around those. Then topped with a thick coat of Seche Vite, which is my go-to, favourite top coat.
What are you wearing on your nails this week? Happy Shopping!
So, it’s been…. awhile since we had a TRF. Sorry about that. January is just such a boring shopping month. Once you get over spending any money or gift certs that you got for Christmas, it’s all over and you just get to watch the email pore in from your favourite stores as they lower and lower the price on items, practically begging you to buy something, anything. I don’t know about you but I’m holding out for when my mom, my daughter and I go to Toronto in three weeks. And then I’m buying spring stuff. Screw you winter!
Anyways… some exciting thing did happen this month and here they are:
I made these amazing cookies, recipe from Bakerella. I swapped the walnuts for pistachios. Yum!
I had some boudoir pictures taken. This was the outfit I bought for the shoot (only in black, which is not on the website). If you are interested in getting boudoir shots done, I highly recommend Trina from Connections Captured. She was extremely professional and discreet. And for a limited time, she is offering an amazing package deal of $95 for 15-20 edited shots, owning the images, and the sitting fee. It was truly an amazing experience. One that I will definitely be repeating in the future.
Overall, not bad for one of the coldest winters on record. What have you bought this month? What are you looking forward to for spring? Happy Shopping!
I have some of the softest nails of anyone I know. I can “cut” my nails with a nail file, I don’t have to use nail clippers. So when Bekkie recommended Nail Envy, it sounded like something I could really use.
Initially, I put on two coats. It dried really quickly and made my nails looked all shiny. There was no bad smell, which is always a bonus. When I first saw this I somehow thought of that stuff you put on your nails that tastes bad to make you stop biting them.
I left my nails bare except for this base coat, applying a new coat every second day like it recommended. I didn’t notice any major changes in the first couple of weeks. Since then I’ve been wearing it about a month and my nails are noticeably harder and stronger. They don’t seem to be growing too fast, in fact I would say that my nails are actually growing slower.
The price tag on this is a little hefty, $17 ish depending on where you purchase it. I do like it and will continue to use it as a base coat, especially since I am dabbling in nail art and I do find my manicures last a lot longer when I use this (3 – 5 days vs. 1 – 3 days prior).
Overall, I give it a thumbs up. Have you tried this product or another base coat/nail strengthener/hardener that you love? Leave me a comment. Happy Shopping!
Bekkie and I have decided to take part in The Laquer Legion, a monthly nail art challenge. This month’s theme is Reinvention. I have no idea what that means. The Facebook page says:
Reinvent a classic technique like the French. Reinvent a look you love with new colors. Reinvent one of your first attempts at nail art with your newfound skills, Or reinvent your own style by traing something you wouldn’t normally try. Just invent… again.
So I guess I should say, I don’t know what that means to me. And my nail are painfully short right now. I’m sure I’ll come up with something by Monday.
We would love it if you would take part in The Lacquer Legion too! Monday, Jan 27th is the date for the manis to be posted on the Facebook page or Instagram hashtag #LLreinvention. And leave me a comment and let me know you are participating.
January is definitely a time to reflect over the previous year and set goals for the upcoming year. I’m looking forward to all the upcoming product reviews and shopping trips for 2014!
Today I thought I’d share with you some of my favourite manicures from 2013. As I was gathering these, I realized some of them hadn’t made it onto either my instagram or my blog so they are new (to you).
What’s your fav? Or fav mani from one that you did last year? Happy Shopping!
