#30DaysofLipstick: Week 1

This has to be the funnest and easiest challenge I’ve ever done! This could be because I normally challenge myself to do ridiculous fad diets.

Here’s a round up of Days 2 – 7 in case you missed it:

Day 2 was my first day back at work after Christmas break and I thought, what the heck, let’s pretend I feel great (I didn’t, that cold hung on for a long time) and wear navy lipstick. Add to that my accidental hair-dying incident (long story) and I may have been projecting a grunge image that wasn’t intended. Oh well, I love navy lipstick. However, I don’t think I will be wearing it to work ever again. There was navy lipstick on my tea mug, my water bottle, my teeth, my nose, my cheek, my sandwich…. you get the picture. This pink is a great day colour and definitely a go-to for any eye look. I loved how it dried down and stayed put all day too. NYX Cosmetics Liquid Suede in Tea & Cookies

This metallic burgundy/purple was a brand new one I had gotten for Christmas and I put it on seconds before I took this picture. I will definitely be wearing it again and again and again. It did transfer to my tea mug but not nearly as bad as the navy lipstick. Smashbox Be Legendary Liquid Lip in Foiled Brat

This Bite Beauty multistick is by far one of my favourites. I did a video about it about a year ago (which you can watch if you are looking for more in-depth thoughts). Bite Beauty Multistick in Biscotti

I may have gotten a little carried away with this challenge and purchased some additional lipsticks for it. Like I could somehow run out of lipstick?! Anyways, these Sephora #lipstories lipsticks are lovely and creamy. They are only $10 and come in 3 finishes and 40 colours, can you blame me for buying more?? Sephora #lipstories in 41 Take a Spin

Okay, I’ll admit it. I wasn’t gonna post anything on Day 7. Sunday is usually my no-makeup day. So you got a no-makeup lipstick look. Bite Beauty Matte Crayon in Glace

So that was my first week of looks. I definitely have a several purple lipsticks to get through and a few reds that I’m seriously dreading. I just don’t think red is my colour.

What is your favourite lipstick? Any that I’ve worn in my first week? I’d love to hear about it. Happy Shopping!

Julep It’s Balm First Impression

Yes, another video. I am so excited to share this one with you, it’s my best video yet!

Today I am talking about the new It’s Balm Lip Crayon colours from Julep (and yes, I do have a small rant about the product’s name change).

The lip crayons reminded me a lot of other lip balms. You had to do a few swipes to get some decent colour payoff and needed to be reapplied in an hour or two. On the flip side, I felt comfortable applying without a mirror since I wasn’t concerned with getting it all over my face like I am with some lipsticks. The smell is pleasant, kind of a sweet, vanilla-cake smell but can get a little cloying after awhile.

From top to bottom, left to right: Apricot Nude, Dusty Orchid, Nectar Pink and Ripe Raspberry.

Overall, I like this product. Now that I’ve tried a few more colours, I would probably be willing to try more. I mention in the video how much I hate Aurora Pink creme and that has deterred me from trying more, which really isn’t fair since the colour just simply doesn’t go with my skin tone, no other reason.
