My fall 2015 wishlist

Texture continues to be in style this fall but instead of the brocade and silky fabrics that we were seeing last fall, this fall is more about tweeds and wools coordinated with leather and metallics.

Here is my wish list for fashion items this fall:

Fall wishlist 15

  1. Joe Fresh Twist Front Dress, $39
  2. Matt and Natt Tia purse in Grape, $168
  3. Banana Republic Asymmetrical-Zip Gray Pencil Skirt, $124
  4. Joe Fresh Printed Sleeveless Sheath Dress, $29
  5. Circus by Sam Edelman Bond boot, $166

What are you looking forward to buying and wearing for fall? Happy Shopping!

Fashion Friday – Sept 18

Another week has flown by and while I’ve been busy planning my daughter’s third birthday party, I did manage to coerce my lovely friend, Sarah, into taking more photos for another edition of Fashion Friday. So with no further ado….

Blazer: Hush/Shout (in 2011)

Jeans: Henry and Belle from October Boutique

T-shirt: Joe Fresh

Tank: Ricki’s

Scarf: Plato’s Closet

Shoes: Nine West

Brooch: Had it for so long I can’t remember ūüôā

Apparently I’m in a scarf phase, I’ve been wearing one almost every day and I find it an easy way to add some colour to an otherwise neutral outfit. What have you make your staple for this fall? Happy Shopping!

Joe Fresh Florals

Hi folks! I’m back from Mexico and ready to jump back into life and blogging. I was definitely taking a break for most of December and January. But the day are starting to get longer and the sun (and Vitamin D!) I got in Mexico revitalized me so I’m ready to get back to work. ūüôā

I’m sure it’s not shock to anyone who’s been reading the blog for awhile but I love florals. So I am super pumped to pick up some pieces from the new collection from Joe Fresh.

Totally Random Friday – Sept 5th

I had a comment made to me that my TRF’s weren’t actually random. They were getting kind of predictable. I explained that the only real randomness to the post was the fact that they didn’t have a theme and the items commented on (or shown) in the post didn’t have to connect to each other. I’m basically giving myself free reign to babble about whatever I want. Does that make sense to you? Or would you prefer TRFs to be completely random? I would appreciate your thoughts on this issue.

1. This week I went to check out the Simpsons’ collab at a MAC counter but they didn’t have it, so I will try to make it to my local MAC store in St. Vital Centre (which is actually not really that close to me and the only MAC store in the city) this weekend. But MAC also released MAC Look in a Box this week on the website that look pretty neat. They seem to be three different sets that include lipstick, lipglass, a small eyeshadow palette with three complimentary shadows and an eyeliner. They retail for $47.50 CDN.

2. I bought some things from Joe Fresh on the weekend. They were having 25% off full-priced items on the website and you know what a cheap-skate bargain-hunter I am. That was too good to pass up. I posted some of the things that I bought in my post, How to Update Your Wardrobe for Fall.

3. Also Joe Fresh related is their collaboration with four fashion bloggers called Turn Color On that they released this week. It’s only on the US site but it’s still interesting to see the picks for each blogger. I also find the Joe website a little overwhelming sometimes to browse and I think this campaign highlights interesting pieces that you may otherwise overlook. I also keep meaning to check out the blogs of the featured bloggers but it’s been a little busy this week so I haven’t had a chance.

4. We are probably heading out to check out ManyFest this weekend. ManyFest is a block-party, street festival, farmers’ market, fun run/race and kids’ play area all rolled into one that is held right downtown on Broadway. Last year we took Cally and she was too little to really understand what it was all about but this year should be better (this is also the way I feel about her birthday, Halloween and Christmas). I’m looking forward to the Food Truck Wars, ¬†and the¬†Mini-Fest Kids’ Zone.¬†I really wanted to do the Electric Donkey but it just didn’t work out. Oh well, maybe next year.

What are you up to this weekend? Enjoying the last bit of summer that is hanging around? I’d love to hear about it. Happy Shopping!

Totally Random Friday – June 6th

This week went by really fast and was kinda boring. Not too much to talk about on the fashion/makeup front.

So here’s a round-up of my Instagram photos in case you missed them.

Apparently this week should’ve been called “42 Ways to Wear Your Denim Jacket”

20140606-145020-53420372.jpg

Denim Jacket (bought at a yard sale last summer, no specific brand), DKNY Jeans top and purple graffiti jeggings and Joe Fresh silver ballet flats.

20140606-145019-53419336.jpg

Denim Jacket with Banana Republic Sloan Dress in black and Clarks sandals (from last year). Belt from Zellers and necklace from Aldo.

20140606-145021-53421010.jpg

Denim Jacket with Joe Fresh t-shirt with flower details, Gap Jeans in Peach and necklace from Lia Sophia. I am also wearing Birkenstocks but they got cut off in editing.

Okay, so maybe it’s not 42 ways but I sure wore it a lot this week. I think a nice denim jacket is a great neutral for spring and summer. If you don’t have one, I suggest you get one. And right now it’s easy as they are everywhere. If you aren’t a big fan of the cropped one (like I have above) grab one that hits you at the hip but definitely not any longer.

Some nail art:

Two coats of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in¬†Barracuda¬†and then using the painted gradient technique (by the lovely Chalkboard Nails) gradually paint three coats of Serum No 5 Laven-Daringly Bright (which glows in the dark) and top with two coats of Quo by Orly Pink Matte (sorry, I couldn’t find any link for this). Loved this mani and it wore well for two days.

Some very exciting news: Head over to Lipsticks and Lullabies right away because Rebekah is giving away the Urban Decay Electric Palette for reaching 300 Likes on Facebook. Following me on Instagram and Twitter are two of the ways to enter for the contest. Good luck!

Oh ya, and I signed up for Twitter. Follow me @tlcshoppingwpg.

Lastly, what do you think of the larger picture sizes? Too big? Great for seeing details? Leave me a comment and let me know. Happy Shopping!

Spring showers bring spring flowers

Hey party people! I hope it’s thawing and warming up out there for all of you. The weather is getting nicer around here and all that awful white stuff is slowly slipping away down the drains. And you know what that means – Florals! I am a huge fan of this pattern genre and I am looking forward to incorporating them into my outfit each and every day.

Here’s some of my favs.

These sunglasses from Toms have a pretty daisy motif.

This dress from Club Monaco has an unexpected cutout in the back making it appear as two pieces. Interesting!

What are your favourite floral pieces? Are you already wearing them or keeping them for warmer temps? Happy Shopping!

Totally Random Friday – March 7

So, I’m pretty proud of myself this week. Not only did I post three times, I’ve actually been posting in the morning so you could read them during the day. Like, this post, you’ll actually be able to read it on Friday, March 7th as opposed to being posted in the evening and read on Saturday. Okay, I’ll try not to wrench my arm patting myself on the back. Lol

This week was pretty busy. Did some shopping on Saturday, both with a client and then with my daughter. Sadly, shopping is the only exercise she gets when it has been as cold as it has. Definitely looking forward to the warmer weather and maybe some tobogganing and walks.

Here are a few things I bought or found this week:

Here are the three pieces I purchased from Peter Pilotto for Target:

Long sleeve T-shirt for a client

20140306-191048.jpg

This dress actually ended up going back. While I loved the print, I didn’t find the cut very flattering.

20140306-190952.jpg

And this geometric shell.  (pants from Banana Republic, jacket from Rickis, shoes Nine West and necklace from ParaMix)

Sarah Stevenson is the next designer to do a designer capsule collection at Target. Here are a few of my favourite looks.

She says she is heavily influenced by florals. Could I have found my new designer soul-mate?? Collection is unveiled March 23rd. See the whole thing here.

20140306-191037.jpg

Found this black lace Joe Fresh t-shirt when I ran into Superstore to get diapers. Love being able to buy clothing with my groceries!

catchingfireAnybody else pumped to buy Catching Fire today? I have to say that while I loved the first movie, the second one truly blew me away. I can’t wait to see the third and fourth movies (based on the third book) coming out in Nov 2014 and Nov 2015 respectively.

halcyondays

For my birthday (yes, that was over six weeks ago) my husband purchased the Ellie Goulding album Halcyon Days. I am totally loving it. In fact, all three of us have become pretty big Ellie fans. My daughter stops what she is doing and starts dancing when she hears Lights, Burn, or I Need Your Love¬†(we are also Calvin Harris fans). And I loop the album (it’s pretty big) when I’m blogging and it’s mellow enough for evening but upbeat enough to keep me grooving while I search for links and upload pictures.

How was your week? Are you enjoying the warmer temps and the snow dump? What did you buy? Leave me a comment. Happy Shopping!
