Happy Mail Project Reveal

Back in August, I signed up for Happy Mail Project by Lauren at Pink on the Cheek. Happy Mail Project is a little bit like having a pen pal. You sign up and then Lauren pairs bloggers of similar ages together and then you “meet” and share information about each other and after a month or so, you mail a goodie bag to your pen pal based on a theme that Lauren came up with when you signed up.

I got paired with the lovely Christine from Simply Stine and I have really enjoyed getting to know her. She lives in Atlanta, Georgia, which is a place I know nothing about except that they don’t really have winter (lucky!). Christine is also a beauty and fashion blogger and I enjoyed reading her reviews of things we either don’t have here or I’ve never tried. Like Maybelline Brow Drama or e.l.f. Moisturizing Lipsticks and I really appreciated her views on Truthful Tuesdays. She also went on an amazing trip to Disney World while we were pen pals and hunted for an Elsa doll while she was there since I wanted one for Cally’s birthday. She didn’t find one but her tenacity in her search for this doll for a stranger really touched my heart.

I got my Happy Mail from Christine on Friday and when I opened it I was blown away. It took me a couple of days to put the right words together to even write an email to tell her thank you. This woman is GENEROUS! I felt damn spoilt. Here is what I got:

First of all, this gorgeous card with her logo and artwork on it (and a lovely hand-written note instead as well). It has totally inspired me to get some TLC Shopping ones. I can see where they would come in so handy!

This lovely orange-scented candle in a cute tin with a lid.

Maybelline The Nudes palette (!!). I am pumped to try this. I was making myself wait to try until I got this post done, kind of like a reward. (sometimes blogging feels like lots of work)

Some inspiration quotes for my desk and some wise post-it notes to fit in with our “Back to School” theme.

Two purple polishes (whose names I forgot to write down) and a pink pen. I think Christine caught on that pink and purple are my favourite colours. She is very perceptive. 😉

Some stickers, colouring books and crayons for my toddler. This part was really touching to me. Cally saw me open the box and started yelling, “Mom! Anna! Anna!” – it was so cute. A HUGE thanks to Christine for adding these items in for her.

This is a third of the chocolates that Christine sent me. Or maybe a quarter. There were lots and they were quickly gobbled down by both my husband and myself. Not saying who ate more though.

So that was my Happy Mail Project experience. And I just want to say, it was awesome. Thanks so much to Lauren for organizing the project and a BIG HUG out to Christine for sending this stuff. It was wonderfully thoughtful and tailored for me. I hope she likes her stuff even a fraction of what I liked mine.

Happy Shopping!

Totally Random Friday – Sept 19th

This is the week I’m waiting for things. Patience is not my best virtue and it’s probably good that Canada Post has an app I can check a zillion times per day to see where my packages are instead of having to call and pester the Canada Post call centre people.

I did get my Julep order and talked about it on Instagram and on Wednesday in this post so I won’t bore you with details again.

I start Christmas shopping early (I’m sure you’re shocked, lol) and the Disney Store.com was having a sale on the plush dolls last weekend so I picked up some dolls for my nieces.

Aren’t they cute? I love these dolls. My daughter has a couple (*coughfourlargeonestwosmallonescough*) and they are perfect for cuddling or sleeping with. In fact, I think there’s an Ariel doll in my bed right now. The Maleficent one is actually for my mom, which she will think is hilarious, trust me. I also picked out character-matching t-shirts for the girls and sippy cups. And according to UPS, this should be delivered on Monday. So, Christmas for the nieces (on that side of the family), done!

I bought Cally a jacket and ski pants from Beyond the Rack a few weeks ago. The jacket arrived last week and it’s  gorgeous and the ski pants are supposed to show up tomorrow.

I like to be prepared for winter. I feel like the last two have really crept up on us and I hate being “that parent” standing in the store looking at the rack of snow boots that is empty. I bought her snow suit from BTR last year and was really happy with it. I bought her boots and mitts locally though and both stores have gone out of business since then so I have to figure out a new place to buy boots and mitts.

Cutest kid ever, I know. It’s totally okay to say it. 😉

I also mailed my Happy Mail Project package this week. I’ve had a great time getting to know Christine over at Simpy Stine when we were paired together. Basically, it’s a pen pal project. You sign up over at Pink on the Cheek and Lauren pairs you with another blogger within the same age range. You have two months to get to know each other and then you mail the other person a little present. It’s been fun and I’m definitely excited for my mail. Look for my blog post on or around Oct 2nd when I reveal what Christine sent me. And I’ll link hers so you can see what I sent her. Sorry, no previews as I know Christine reads the posts too. lol

Screen Shot 2014-09-18 at 9.20.55 PMI also broke down and bought the Julep Jewel Heist mystery box (no longer for sale) earlier this week as well. The potential to win all the birthstone colours was too much to resist, I got the June one over the summer and it is gorgeous! Also Evolution of a Foodie posted some spoilers and the boxes looked pretty good. Crossing my fingers but it’ll be awhile yet before I get it, the box hasn’t cleared customs yet.

So, busy shopping week. How was your week? What did you buy? Getting ready for Christmas? I’d love to hear about it. Happy Shopping!
