First Impression Julep Eyeshadow 101

Hey folks, did everyone have a nice Thanksgiving? Mine was great. I’m one of the few people I know who actually looks forward to turkey and then all the turkey leftovers. Daughter Dearest also had a great time playing with Cousins although listening to four girls under 10 laugh and bicker and fight drives Grandma Dee and I a little crazy.

Today I’m going to bring you a video giving you my first impression of the new eyeshadow sticks by Julep called Eyeshadow 101. While this isn’t the first video I’ve done, this is the first one I’ve featured on my blog for reasons that will become clear in the coming weeks.

So, here’s the Julep blog post picture I reference in the video that shows the colours from lightest to darkest.

And here’s more pictures of the look:

On my face, I’m also wearing:

Benefit The POREfessional

Anastasia Beverley Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Taupe

tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Precision Longwear Eyeliner in Black

So Susan Universal Blush

Buxom Lash Mascara in Black

In the video, I also talk about Benefit’s Watt’s Up Cream to Powder Highlighter.

So, what do you think of Eyeshadow 101? Did this make you want to try it? Or convince you it’s not the product for you? If you’d like to sign up for Julep, I’d love for you to use my referral link here. Happy Shopping!

Urban Decay Vice 3 Challenge – Looks 1 – 3

Hey folks! Rebekah and I are doing a challenge this week: using makeup we already own instead of buying something new. So we are each bringing five looks that we created using the Urban Decay Vice 3 palette to show you how versatile it is and prove to ourselves that what we own can be just as good as something new.

Look 1:

Here is my first look using Lucky on the inside corner, Reign on the outside corner and Vanity patted over the lid. This picture also remind me to stop taking pictures in fluorescent lighting even if there’s a window.

I’m also wearing Anastasia Dipbrown in Taupe, Benefit blush in Dandelion and Burt’s Bees lipgloss in Autumn Haze.

Look 2:

I especially love this look. I’m addicted to pink eyeshadows and this palette has a great trio to creating a bright look.

Also wearing: So Susan Universal Blush, Julep Fluid Eyeglider and Smashbox Full Exposure mascara.

Look 3:

My final look for this post is a neutral smoky eye, perfect for daytime.

Rebekah is posting her looks on Instagram. Check them out here. I’ll be back on Friday with the last two looks. Happy Shopping!

Smashbox Spring Edit palette

Hey folks, a couple of weeks ago I picked up the Smashbox Spring Edit palette and here’s some of my thoughts about it.

While I really love the palette, I’m going to start with a couple of complaints. One, it doesn’t come with any brushes. The sales lady at Shoppers made the comment that it would be perfect for travelling when I bought it but you still need to pack brushes so, it isn’t.

Secondly, it has a magnetic closure which is fine if it’s just sitting in the makeup drawer but if you use it for travelling then you want something that’s not going to come open in your suitcase/purse.

Here’s two eyeshadow looks that I’ve created with the palette:

This one I used the pink in the inner third, the gray in the middle third and the purple on the outer third. (liner is MAC Fluidline in Avenue)

Here the pink is the inner half and the gray is the outer half. I used the purple smudged underneath my lower lashes.(Again, liner is MAC Fluidline in Avenue – it’s my go-to fav)

Just a couple of comments about the colours. They are all highly pigmented and go on really well. The light pink colour is more of a peach but is still really gorgeous. On to lip colours:

This is the Panoramic Pink Lip Enhancing Gloss. It mostly just added alot of shine, not really any colour. Good, smaller size, easy to throw into your purse. [On a side note, I never really noticed that my lip is not symmetrical until today. Weird, eh? I assure you, I am not sneering.]

This is the Inspiration lip colour. It looks like a mess because I couldn’t find my lip brush and had to smear it on with my finger. Again, a brush in the palette would’ve been handy. It is a pretty, bright pink, slightly on the matte side.

And here’s Inspiration with the Panoramix Pink Lip Enhancing Gloss over it. I like the shine that it adds.

This is the Primrose lipstick. It’s a nice peachy nude that’s also slightly on the matte side.

Here’s Primrose with the Panoramix Pink Lip Enhancing Gloss over it. This is my favourite colour combo. A little bit of colour but shiny and not overwhelming. I think I’ll be wearing this quite a bit.

Overall, I really like this palette and will probably be using it alot over the summer. I’ll let you know if I actually pack it when I leave the city, it will probably mostly stay in my makeup drawer.

28 Days of Eyeshadow – Day 13

First of all, apologies. Today’s pictures aren’t the greatest. The cloud cover made for lousy lighting for pictures and I was forced to use artificial light. Nevermind that some day I will be organized to use something other than my iPhone to take photos for my blog….

So, today’s look is courtesy of the MAC Wonder Woman Collection from a couple of years ago. It included three beautiful pinks and one gorgeous burgundy. I topped off the look with some pink Fluidline that was part of a limited edition collection from last year.

MAC eyeshadows: Defiance, Paradise Island, Star Studded, and Real Drama

MAC Fluidline in Feminine Edge

As you may have noticed, I tend to buy makeup from MAC’s many limited edition collections and collaborations. My daily blush is from their Betty & Veronica collection. My favourite lipgloss has Maleficient on it from their Disney Villians collection. Wonder Woman, Barbie, Hello Kitty and several others have all had their kick at the “MAC collection” can. Which of these have you checked out… or bought something from? Or maybe, is your favourite item in the world and you wish they would bring back. (This is the way my mother feels about their Cruella De Vil nude lipstick). I’d love to hear about it. Happy Shopping!

28 Days of Eyeshadow – Day 10

So, today’s look is not exactly groundbreaking. I was running late this morning and decided to do a multi-shade lilac look. But when applying the eyeshadows, they looked identical! So I added some darker purple just above the lash line to give it some oophm. Hopefully tomorrow’s will be better executed.

28 Days of Eyeshadow – Day 8

Just quickly, I forgot to take a picture of the products I used so I’ll just list them. Also, no links today cuz I haven’t figured out how to use the link thing on my phone.

MAC eyeshadow in Shroom, Sassy Grass, and Humid
MAC paint pot in Painterly
Provici eyeshadow in 213 Black
MAC Fluidline in Avenue
Provici eyeliner in Black
Maybelline The Falsies mascara
Benefit Watt’s Up

This is my interpretation of a green smoky eye, definitely meant for a night out. Where would you wear a look like this? Happy Shopping!

28 Days of Eyeshadow – Day 7

Sorry, no TRF today. I am working on blogging everyday and mixing this with regular work and mommy duties means I haven’t had the same amount of time to peruse website to check out spring looks. I should have some cute stuff to show you next week.

Today’s look makes me think of spring. And since I was able to go without my touque and it was super sunny today, I’m all sentimental and optimistic that it will be spring soon!

MAC eyeshadow in Pink Freeze, Creme de Violet, and Shock-a-holic.

MAC Fluidline in Avenue (no longer available)

Anyone else notice the pastels that are starting to crop up in store windows and displays? I am super excited! Any pieces you are looking forward to purchasing or bought this week? Happy Shopping!

28 Days of Eyeshadow – Day 6

Today’s look is a copper colour. These first two pics are to show how mascara does give you a more polished look.

Today’s eyeshadow colour is Cosmic by MAC and I’m embarrassed to say it’s older than my relationship with my husband. I keep makeup long past the recommended times to throw them out. This makes me wonder if those guidelines are a scam by the makeup companies to keep us buying more….
