Hey folks, can you believe the weather? What a gorgeous week in October! At this rate, we will definitely still be snow free by Halloween, which is always my cut-off for calling it a beautiful fall.
I definitely took advantage of this fair weather with my Fashion Friday post although the wind blew my hair and blazer all over the place, as you can see! I’m also very pleased that this week’s post includes three items bought at locally-owned stores. As I get older, supporting entrepreneurs and shopping local has become more and more important to me. I also love showcasing the amazing shopping we have right here in Winnipeg.
Blazer: Louise Bourgeois Black Label from The Style Bar
Blouse: Saie from The Style Bar
Jeans: Henry and Belle from October Boutique
Necklace: Chapters (no longer available)
As you can see from the last few Fashion Friday posts, I mix and match items in my closet to come up with new combinations. I feel one great new piece can change up your wardrobe so you don’t need to buy a whole new closet each season. That’s how I feel about the blouse from The Style Bar. I love the muted floral pattern in neutral colours and the back is so fun with it’s peek-a-boo opening and large bow. It’s my favourite shirt for this season!
As my public service announcement, I urge you to get out and vote on Monday. So many people (especially young people) don’t vote and it is so important for everyone to exercise their democratic right to pick the government that leads our great nation. If you feel you don’t know who to vote for, educate yourself. Head over to Elections Canada and input your postal code. The website will tell you which candidates are running in your area. Google them and the leaders of the parties and see which platform aligns with your views on how you would like to see Canada progress as a country. Then, on Oct 19th, mark an ‘X’ next to your choice on the ballot. I promise, it feels pretty great!
My third Fashion Friday in a row! I feel like I’m getting the hang of this blogging regularly thing. lol
Today’s outfit is another fall transition outfit. Since it wasn’t that cold yet, I felt confident going in bare legs. Once it gets cold, I’ll pair tights with this outfit.
Sweater Dress: Banana Republic (this wine colour isn’t available anymore)
Blazer: Ricki’s (this exact style is no longer available)
Scarf: Vinyasa Scarf from Lululemon
What’s your go-to transitional fall outfit? Happy Shopping!
This week went by really fast and was kinda boring. Not too much to talk about on the fashion/makeup front.
So here’s a round-up of my Instagram photos in case you missed them.
Apparently this week should’ve been called “42 Ways to Wear Your Denim Jacket”
Denim Jacket (bought at a yard sale last summer, no specific brand), DKNY Jeans top and purple graffiti jeggings and Joe Fresh silver ballet flats.
Denim Jacket with Banana Republic Sloan Dress in black and Clarks sandals (from last year). Belt from Zellers and necklace from Aldo.
Denim Jacket with Joe Fresh t-shirt with flower details, Gap Jeans in Peach and necklace from Lia Sophia. I am also wearing Birkenstocks but they got cut off in editing.
Okay, so maybe it’s not 42 ways but I sure wore it a lot this week. I think a nice denim jacket is a great neutral for spring and summer. If you don’t have one, I suggest you get one. And right now it’s easy as they are everywhere. If you aren’t a big fan of the cropped one (like I have above) grab one that hits you at the hip but definitely not any longer.
Some nail art:
Two coats of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Barracuda and then using the painted gradient technique (by the lovely Chalkboard Nails) gradually paint three coats of Serum No 5 Laven-Daringly Bright (which glows in the dark) and top with two coats of Quo by Orly Pink Matte (sorry, I couldn’t find any link for this). Loved this mani and it wore well for two days.
Some very exciting news: Head over to Lipsticks and Lullabies right away because Rebekah is giving away the Urban Decay Electric Palette for reaching 300 Likes on Facebook. Following me on Instagram and Twitter are two of the ways to enter for the contest. Good luck!
Oh ya, and I signed up for Twitter. Follow me @tlcshoppingwpg.
Lastly, what do you think of the larger picture sizes? Too big? Great for seeing details? Leave me a comment and let me know. Happy Shopping!
This week I have written speeches, letters and emails. Writing a blog post is not exactly what I want to be doing right now. Apologies for the lack of written words. Hopefully I can make it up to you with pictures.
1. Bout this Kate and Mel orange cut-out purse this week and got this Town Shoes reusable bag. Hard to say which is going to get more use. I totally love reusable bags.
Weekly manicure: Quo by Orly in Star Formation layered over OPI Black Cherry Chutney. Top coat Seche Vite and base coat Nail Envy by OPI. I’m not thrilled with the Quo by Orly polish as it chips easily. Layering it over the OPI and under the Seche Vite makes it last a little longer.
Got the April issue of Flare in the mail this week and looking forward to reading what’s new for Spring. I love the “Punchy Pastels” tagline that I’ve been reading everywhere. Also pretty pumped that Emilia Clarke is on the cover. Season 4 of Game of Thrones starts on April 6th. Are you as pumped as my husband and I are?
Last week I was cleaning up my office and quickly snapped a pic of all the shoes (and one pair of boots) that I keep under my desk for all sorts of situations. From left to right, back to front: Clarks ankle boots, Franco Sarto round toe black patent heels, Sam & Libby black faux-patent Mary Janes, Clarks peep toe flats, black sparkly Toms and one of my favourite pairs, Nine West cheetah patterned pointy toed princess heels. How many pairs of black shoes is too many? How many pairs of shoes should you keep at work?
How was your week? Hopefully more interesting than mine. Love to hear about it, leave me a comment. Happy Shopping!
