Fashion Friday – February 5th

Hey folks! I am back with Fashion Fridays today! Hopefully this will be a more regular feature on the blog but since I can’t always count on the weather to cooperate, it will still be hit and miss.

Anyways, while today’s look is very simple, I wanted to show a very wearable outfit for any office-type environment. Happy Shopping!

Totally Random Friday – Oct 9

Hey folks. I love doing the Fashion Fridays lately but I thought I’d change it up this week with a Totally Random Friday post. I’ve been seeing some cool things for sale and with Christmas less than three months away, we should all start putting together our lists. Santa, start taking notes!

  1. Kate Spade bedding: The queen of bold colours in simple styles has added a new bedding collection. The colourful but classy pieces can be found on the website here.

2. All the 80s girls will remember Jem and the Holograms. With the live-action movie set to debut on Oct 23, Sephora has announced a makeup collection including an eyeshadow palette, a lipgloss set, a lipstick and a compact. This limited edition collection has no official release date yet but I’ll be sure to let you know. I definitely need this lipgloss set and the lipstick. Check out the rest of the sneak peek at Temptalia.

3. Black, black and black seem to be the top three choices of colours for winter jackets so I applaud Banana Republic for putting out this mint coloured one. While I don’t think it would be any match for Winnipeg winters, it would be nice to have a second coat for nice(r) winter days.

4. I did this post a few weeks ago about which wraps I was loving from the fall Jamberry catalogue. Well since then, they’ve added two glow-in-the-dark wraps to their Halloween collection. The one posted below is Glowing Ghouls.(Psst, keep your eyes peeled for some special Jamberry news being posted soon!)

5. Disney has released it’s Fairytale Designer Collection which is clearly aimed at adult Disney suckers like me. The elegant items include clothing, mugs, bags and four sets of limited edition dolls priced at $140CDN per set.

Fashion Friday – Sept 25

My third Fashion Friday in a row! I feel like I’m getting the hang of this blogging regularly thing. lol

Today’s outfit is another fall transition outfit. Since it wasn’t that cold yet, I felt confident going in bare legs. Once it gets cold, I’ll pair tights with this outfit.

Sweater Dress: Banana Republic (this wine colour isn’t available anymore)

Blazer: Ricki’s (this exact style is no longer available)

Scarf: Vinyasa Scarf from Lululemon

Boots: Clarks

What’s your go-to transitional fall outfit? Happy Shopping!

My fall 2015 wishlist

Texture continues to be in style this fall but instead of the brocade and silky fabrics that we were seeing last fall, this fall is more about tweeds and wools coordinated with leather and metallics.

Here is my wish list for fashion items this fall:

  2. Matt and Natt Tia purse in Grape, $168

Totally Random Friday – Feb 6th

I’m not really big on Valentine’s Day for adults, but I love it for kids, all the cute Valentine’s Day cards and pink and red outfits with hearts. So cute! So anyways,  today I’m just going to show you a bunch of random pink stuff that I like.

1. Cinderella x MAC collab is being released in Spring 2015. I thought I was going to be able to get away with just buying the glosses below and maybe one lipstick but the more times I see it, the more I am crushing on the whole collection.

2. Blush is going to be big this season and no one is happier than me. Here’s a couple of blush pieces from Banana Republic that I totally need.

Totally Random Friday – Jan 9th

Hi! Did you miss me? I missed you. Had a great Christmas but now on the other side, it really hits me how truly crazy the season is. Shopping, wrapping, preparing food, remembering other people you should have added to your list, shopping again, wrapping more, eating food, shopping again, even more wrapping and attending parties. So much fun but I’m glad it’s only once per year!

January is one of my favourite months since it’s my birthday month! I am definitely one of those people who celebrate their birthdays for about a week or so. This year, I am super excited because my husband and I are headed (with my SIL and her husband) to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico!! I am so pumped! It’s supposedly to celebrate my husband’s birthday (he’s turning 35 and never been on a hot vacation) but we leave the day after my birthday so…. it’s really my our birthday present. Well, on to the randomness!

1. David’s Tea has launched a new line for the new year and I’m really excited to try a bunch of the flavours.

I’m all about black teas (except Earl Grey – bleh!) and fruity teas so this collection definitely speaks to me.

2. Courtney from La Belle Sirene shared on her Instagram that Target is having a spring collab with Lilly Pulitzer.

Screen Shot 2015-01-07 at 9.31.42 PM

Lilly Pulitzer founded her namesake line in sunny Palm Beach, Fla., in 1959, introducing a new genre of fashion – American resort wear – that to this day celebrates bold individuality and encourages women everywhere to embrace colour and fearlessness in every area of their lives.

Lilly Pulitzer for Target features 15 lively and modern prints inspired by archival artwork across 250 items, including apparel, shoes and accessories for women and girls, home goods and cosmetics. The collection ranges in price from $2-$150, and will be available exclusively at all Target stores in the U.S. and Canada beginning April 19.

Looking forward to the sneak peeks of what I’m sure will be a very interesting collection!

3. Banana Republic has come out with a new line of denim for 2015:

Screen Shot 2015-01-07 at 9.45.17 PM

The four different fits come in a variety of washes and colours with the Skinny Ankle, Skinny and Legging styles in mid-rise and the Boyfriend style in low-rise. They range in price from $110 – 124. I’ll probably try these on next time I’m in BR but they don’t seem earth shattering enough for me to run-down-there-this-instance. I’ll let you know what I think.

4. And finally, I want to leave you with some pics from my Instagram (in case you don’t follow me)

Totally Random Friday – Aug 8th

Hi party peoples! Sorry for my complete and utter absence lately. I mean, no Instagram, no Twitter, no posts, nothing! It was only supposed to be for the August long weekend and then I got this terrible head cold, complete with fever, that I have been fighting since Sunday night. I mean, UGH!! I actually called my dear friend, Deanna to come and get my daughter on Tuesday because I couldn’t deal with anything, never mind a rambunctious toddler. Then on Wednesday I escaped to my mom’s for copious amounts of sympathy, help changing diapers and hanging out by the pool. It was lovely. Anyways, I’m home now and my cold has been down-graded to runny-nose/stuffiness and coughing fits punctuated by sneezing. It’s been so great (NOT!). I can’t decide whether it was good that I was on vacation anyways so I didn’t have to use sick time or stinky that I was on vacation anyways cuz then I’m sick on vacation! Oh well, on to the news of the week (as I see it anyways).

1. Banana Republic has unveiled their new fall looks. This season looks a little edgier in terms of more leather looks and less colour. Their new Creative Director, Marissa Webb, hints that this collection is a change in the direction of Banana Republic’s lines in her quote on their homepage:

It’s a new day at Banana Republic, with an all new style rich in contrasts – smooth with textured, modern with classic, short with long. This is our take one ‘hi-lo’ styling and it’s the shape of things to come.

Okay, so I’ve only been a BR customer for a year, since I went back to work after mat leave. And while this collection looks really great and there are some pieces I’m excited about, the mixing of textures has been around for quite a few seasons. Maybe she’s implying that BR is just reinventing this trend? (Or to be more harsh, maybe they’ve just figured it out??) What do you think? Anyways, here’s a couple of pieces that I love.

sloanleather cn8152653

Can you say gorgeous? Especially those faux-leather Sloan skinny pants. I clearly need a pair of those in my closet!

Item number 2 is also Banana Republic related. They also release their collab with Roland Mouret this week. The collection looks great but the sneak-peek photos they’ve released over the past few days are on the creepy side….

Screen Shot 2014-08-07 at 10.35.39 PMScreen Shot 2014-08-07 at 10.33.38 PM

Well, at least the collection looks amazing, right?

3. For those of you here in Winnipeg, the semi-annual St. Vital Centre Shoe Sale starts next Wednesday, August 13th. This year retailers participating include: Call it Spring, Hudson’s Bay, Le Chateau, Naturalizer, Quarks, Soft Moc, Spareparts, and Urban Trail. Head over to find great deals on shoes all over the mall.

4. Sample Killah by Kalyn Lord was a success this year. I got rid of 33 samples and won a prize! I’m super pumped about the perfume Kalyn is sending me. Read about the complete wrap-up including other prize winners here.

5. Charlie Brown is getting some love from OPI by releasing a collection of four polishes: two creams and two glitter-type toppers. Photos courtesy of Julie at SwatchandReview.com. Head here to read her complete review and see all her swatches.

Fall is coming my lovelies! Hopefully next week I’ll be able to put together some interesting pieces for you to feast your eyes on. Until then, Happy Shopping!

Roland Mouret and Banana Republic collab

Fall is around the corner (fashion, not weather, thank goodness!) and it looks like Banana Republic is going to kick it off with a gorgeous capsule collection from Roland Mouret. Did I say gorgeous? I meant GORGEOUS. The lines are clean and feminine, mixing in solids and colour-blocking. My only (small) critique is that it’s a little black heavy to be released in early August. The whole collection feels more appropriate for late fall/early winter.

Here are some pieces that I am particularly loving (courtesy of LouLouMagazine.com):

The collection ranges in price from $62 – 205 and is available August 9th. See the rest of the collection and the article at LouLoumagazine.com.

Totally Random Friday – June 13

Friday the 13th… duh duh DUH! I’ve never been one to subscribe to any of that stuff. I find they are usually like every other Friday.

So, this week went by in a blur.

Apparently I only took pics of one outfit this week. Must get better at that.

20140612-163706-59826890.jpg

Sarah Stevenson for Target blazer, Jacob sleeveless T-shirt, necklace from Chapters, Pink Celebrity Jeans lilac denim from The Style Bar and Sam and Libby Mary Jane’s from Hudson’s Bay.

I picked up some Sally Hansen nail strips on Monday am because I didn’t paint my nails on Sunday night and they lasted all week, which is awesome for me but totally boring for my blog.

20140612-163709-59829133.jpg It’s been five days and they seriously still look like this.

017142636974_mainI am totally jonesing for these Sam Edelman shoes. They have them in black at Hudson’s Bay and I am going down at lunch to try them on so I know what size to order in silver. These are gonna be awesome in summer and I can see them in fall with navy or black pants. Especially since Banana Republic just re-did the Sloan pant and promises me I am going to love them even more. Which seems impossible but I’m willing to try. How do I love them more than with all my heart? I’ll keep you posted.

My parents went to Las Vegas last month to see One Republic (ya, I was jealous) and brought me home personalized M&Ms. Now, I’m sure you’re thinking, wow, you have some restraint if you still had M&Ms after a month. Sadly, I don’t have any restraint, especially when it comes to M&Ms. Dad just brought these when he came for lunch on Monday and they were all gone by Tuesday at 5. I shared some with my co-workers but didn’t even take them home so I didn’t have to share with my husband. I totally had a sugar crash on Tuesday even and went to bed at 9 and slept all night.

20140612-163710-59830213.jpgAren’t they the cutest? I’m assuming that Vegas is the only place you can get the Welcome to Las Vegas sign actually printed on the M&Ms. Mom and I did this for Grandma last year when she and I went to Vegas.

Had a date night with my husband last Saturday. Went to see X-Men: Days of Future Past and loved it. I am actually looking forward to seeing it again when it comes out on Blu-Ray.

20140612-163712-59832000.jpg

I headed over to my local Shoppers Drug Mart last Saturday for Super Spend Your Points Event and got $110 worth of stuff for the price of the taxes. Bought the Benefit Lollibalm lip tint (which I will have a short review for soon), Fekkai conditioner, Smashbox Spring Edit palette, Smashbox 24 Hr eyeshadow primer (which I seriously have no idea how I lived without this product before), Maybelline VolumeExpress The Falsies Big Eyes Mascara and some Essense french mani tips. I had never spent my points before but was please at how easy it was. I think I’ll be doing that alot more often.

How was your week? Anything exciting happen? Anything not exciting happen? Happy Shopping!

Totally Random Friday – June 6th

This week went by really fast and was kinda boring. Not too much to talk about on the fashion/makeup front.

So here’s a round-up of my Instagram photos in case you missed them.

Apparently this week should’ve been called “42 Ways to Wear Your Denim Jacket”

20140606-145020-53420372.jpg

Denim Jacket (bought at a yard sale last summer, no specific brand), DKNY Jeans top and purple graffiti jeggings and Joe Fresh silver ballet flats.

20140606-145019-53419336.jpg

Denim Jacket with Banana Republic Sloan Dress in black and Clarks sandals (from last year). Belt from Zellers and necklace from Aldo.

20140606-145021-53421010.jpg

Denim Jacket with Joe Fresh t-shirt with flower details, Gap Jeans in Peach and necklace from Lia Sophia. I am also wearing Birkenstocks but they got cut off in editing.

Okay, so maybe it’s not 42 ways but I sure wore it a lot this week. I think a nice denim jacket is a great neutral for spring and summer. If you don’t have one, I suggest you get one. And right now it’s easy as they are everywhere. If you aren’t a big fan of the cropped one (like I have above) grab one that hits you at the hip but definitely not any longer.

Some nail art:

20140606-145150-53510681.jpg

Two coats of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Barracuda and then using the painted gradient technique (by the lovely Chalkboard Nails) gradually paint three coats of Serum No 5 Laven-Daringly Bright (which glows in the dark) and top with two coats of Quo by Orly Pink Matte (sorry, I couldn’t find any link for this). Loved this mani and it wore well for two days.
